week 12

Useing facebook or myspace would be an interesting way to promote libraries. For the customers it would mean they could discuss books, recommended books, as a library capacity, yeah, it would work, connecting people together in a totally new way.

When I first started this course I was terrified & thought, no-way, this is going to be too hard, thankyou for making it simple & fun to learn new things on the net. I have thoroughly enjoyed this & please- more courses.
Cheers Wendy
Didn't realise there were so many free online tools available. They will definitely come in handy. Use Google Docs would be very useful in libraries, especially when meetings are coming up and just generally sharing information.

I had no idea about mashups & thought it was going to be hard, but no way, it was easy once I tried it.
Mashups could be used for promoting an event, town history, author visits, it has so many possibilities.
I found podcasts to be very interesting. What a great way to get teens involved in libraries. They could do book & game reviews, write their own stories, it's just endless. Podcasts would also be good for storytime, lectures, up & coming library events & news, book reviews & a lot more. Definitely the way to go.

week 8 slamming the boards

Slamming the boards would be very useful in a library capacity as people can jump online and find answers to their questions and they could also rate how useful the response was, so that librarians can know how to improve the site. Definitely something I would use to help answer a question.

Using Del.icio.us was challenging, but finally got there, (I think). Using something like this in libraries would be a great idea. Learning what great ideas other libraries have and finding information. Getting libraries to try Del.icio.us or Technorati or any other site would be worth a try.

Cheers

del.icio.us

Well,I 'm up to week 7. Finding this week a liitle harder than the others. Stopping and starting every few days has made it harder to remember everything I have learnt,so I'm going to practise, practise and practise.

week 6

Up to week 6, yaah. Sites like youtube are amazing. Instead of reading about information you can now watch a video instead, what a great idea to show author talks, things happening in your library or even improvements being done.

Enjoyed this video,hope it worked
cheers

all that information

Well I'm up to week 4 and still here. Have learnt about rss. Wow, was not really aware of the amount of information out there.
I do like the idea of jumping online to find out the latest news, but also think, walking to my local news agency or library to find information and communicating with people a greater joy.
Some sites that I picked were National Geographics news & Washington Post book reviews just to name a few.
Libraries would benefit from using rss, to promote their libraries and up coming events. What an exciting way to promote libraries.
cheers

Library

This is a photo of our library, which is part of the War Memerial.

We will be relocating to a new library which will be across the street by the end of the year, hopefully, it's very exciting.

still learning

For this week's assignment I have chosen this photo. I like the way the you look through the door way out to the ocean. It's a gorgeous photo.
